LESCO Raises Charges for Single-Phase Meter Connections

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has increased the fee for obtaining a demand notice on single-phase electricity meters. The cost, which was previously set at Rs. 13,786, has now been revised upward following approval from the relevant authorities, according to reports from 24News.

Change Follows Earlier Policy Updates

This fee adjustment comes just months after LESCO rolled out new regulations in June 2025 aimed at commercial and industrial consumers. Under that policy, the utility streamlined requirements for new power connections and solar users by mandating only one Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) smart meter.

Previously, applicants were obligated to install both a billing and a backup meter. While the dual setup is no longer compulsory, LESCO clarified that customers can still opt for both meters if they choose.

Why It Matters

For many households and small businesses, the higher demand notice fee means an added upfront cost when applying for a new single-phase meter connection. Combined with the earlier move to simplify metering requirements, the latest step signals LESCO’s continued efforts to balance revenue needs with modernization of its grid infrastructure.
