Chinese Scholarships Open Doors for Pakistani Students in Green Development

Islamabad – Twenty Pakistani students have secured fully funded scholarships to pursue advanced training in ecology and sustainable development at Shenyang Normal University, China.

The group, drawn from the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF), Women University Multan (WUM), and Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) Multan, will spend three months in China deepening their expertise in environmental sustainability and research. Their program runs from September 16 to December 14, 2025.

A Rigorous Selection Process

According to Professor Abid Ali of Shenyang Normal University, the students were chosen after a competitive evaluation that included CV screenings and interviews. Before departure, each university organized orientation sessions to help prepare the scholars—UAF held its briefing at the Directorate of External Linkages, WUM used the Prime Minister Youth Development Center in Multan, and BZU convened its session in the Vice Chancellor’s Committee Room on August 12.

Strengthening Academic Bridges

The scholarships are part of a Chinese government–sponsored initiative designed not only to provide advanced academic training but also to strengthen Pakistan–China collaboration in the field of sustainable development. For Pakistan, where environmental challenges are mounting, such opportunities are closely aligned with national priorities.

Student Voices and Future Impact

The recipients have expressed deep gratitude for what many called a “life-changing opportunity.” Several acknowledged that their journey began with the First Online Chinese Language Program at BZU, which helped ease the path for academic exchange. They pledged to return with new skills, global perspectives, and research insights that could enrich their universities and contribute to Pakistan’s response to climate and sustainability challenges.
