Yamaha Launches Bike Exchange Deal Amid Major Business Shift

Karachi — Yamaha Motor Pakistan has introduced a limited-time motorcycle exchange program, giving riders the chance to trade in their old bikes for a new Yamaha without the usual hassles of selling in the open market.

Instead of dealing with price negotiations and uncertain buyers, customers can visit selected dealerships to directly swap their existing motorcycles for a fresh model. Yamaha is pitching the initiative as a way to offer “reliability, style, and comfort” in a more straightforward process. The company has urged interested buyers to confirm participating outlets before making the trip, since the deal isn’t available everywhere.

Promoted under the tagline “Purani Do, Nai Lo” (Give the old, take the new), the campaign leans heavily on convenience—something that could appeal to riders frustrated with Pakistan’s unpredictable second-hand bike market.

A Strategic Shift in Yamaha’s Operations

The exchange offer arrives at a pivotal time for Yamaha in Pakistan. Just days earlier, the company confirmed it will no longer manufacture motorcycles locally, citing a change in business policy.

In its statement, Yamaha expressed gratitude for customer support over the years but stopped short of detailing what its long-term strategy for the market will look like. The exit from local production raises questions: will Yamaha shift to an import-only model, or could this be the first step toward winding down operations in Pakistan altogether?

For now, the exchange deal signals that Yamaha still wants to maintain visibility and connection with its customer base—even as the company’s broader future in the country remains uncertain.
