No Decision on Zaka Ashraf’s PCB Chairman Role until World Cup Concludes

The caretaker Prime Minister, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, stated that the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee, Zaka Ashraf, will not see a decision regarding his position until the World Cup concludes. Kakar, in an interview with ‘Dawn News,’ addressed questions regarding Ashraf’s alleged scandal and the potential removal from the PCB chairman role. He expressed his intention to work with Ashraf based on the “doctrine of necessity” and affirmed, “I don’t think we would take a major decision in this regard at this time.” He stressed that altering the PCB leadership during the World Cup would negatively impact the national squad. Speculations are circulating that Zaka Ashraf, whose four-month term at the PCB concludes on November 5, might not receive an extension.

While discussing the performance of the Pakistani cricket team in the World Cup, Kakar maintained an optimistic outlook, saying, “I’m confident Pakistan will achieve it by playing their best cricket.” Despite experiencing losses in their last four World Cup games, Pakistan still holds the opportunity to advance to the semifinals.
